Have you been FLoC'd? Block the FLoC! F Google!
We all know that Google is EVIL. We all know that Google is the biggest spy in tech besides Facebook. Yet, people who know this continue to use Chrome and Google services. In keeping with my stance on Google and our privacy, I think it is important to report about this story and this online tool in case you don't know about it.
Now that Google has become so big and no longer needs to use third-party cookies since they are now a first-party cookie, they can shut out the third parties. Most browsers are now blocking by default third-party cookies. Google needs to be able to continue making money through spying, data theft, and ad revenue. So, they are moving onto a bigger spying technology called FLoC.
Google is running a Chrome trial to test out an experimental new tracking feature called Federated Learning of Cohorts (aka "FLoC"). According to Google, the trial currently affects 0.5% of users in selected regions, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, and the United States.
This page (//amifloced.org) put together by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF / //eff.org) will try to detect whether you've been made a guinea pig in Google's ad-tech experiment.
If your browser has FLoC enabled, join us in dumping Chrome (already have years ago) or whatever browser you are currently using, join us in dropping ALL GOOGLE SERVICES (already have years ago), and move to a browser like Firefox and a search engine like Duck Duck Go (//duckduckgo.com) that fights for your online privacy and respects it.
